The Story of Thomas the Snowman coming alive

The wonder of a child lives in all of us. Sometimes it is covered under the clutter and rationalization of life, and sometimes it finds a way to jump to the surface and dance once again. Your inner child is always just waiting to come out and play.

As a child, we dreamed of a snowy winters day when school got canceled and it was time to just play outside. With excitement, cold hands, and warm hearts, we would run, skip, jump and perhaps build a snowman. A funny fellow that we would build out of snow and would come alive in our imagination.

A few years ago, on one snowy morning, that very childhood memory of building a snowman came back to Larry in real life. The nostalgia of this moment tickled his heart. He decided to get up at 4 am. With a top hat in his hand, a broomstick, a fresh carrot, and a warm scarf in his bag, he went outside to build a snowman.  With the rest of the neighborhood still fast asleep, Larry’s inner child was awake, alive and happy.

The only noise he could hear was the crunch of his boots as he walked in the meadow. Big fluffy snowflakes fell peacefully on his hat. He even caught snowflakes on his tongue, as he did so many years ago as a boy. The huge pine tree branches were bending and laden under the weight of the fluffy moist snow. The world looked and felt magical. The moment was a treasure

Larry had made a career out of being a professional artist and creator. As he lived in the foothills of NC, he had waited many years for such perfect snow. He knew this moment and this perfect snow may never come around again. It was time to create! Creation is a very special time and today it was time to bring Thomas the Snowman to life. After growing up in Canada, he had all of the skills to do it. He was ready for it and as the sun pierced the horizon, it shone a light on this magical snowman. Now it was time to photograph not only the snowman but the magical surroundings. It was more than exciting and Larry’s heart was pounding.

Thomas the Snowman and his snow family came to life that morning and there never was another snow like that even to this day. Thomas the Snowman may have melted that afternoon, however, he lives on in Larry’s artwork. The many photographs taken that morning have been brought his artwork for many years and still are part of his artistic storytelling today. Both Larry and his magical character Thomas the Snowman have become famous, and the Winter Wonderland artwork featuring Thomas the Snowman has been published and licensed in thousands of pieces and stores worldwide.

Now, here is an extraordinary and very special opportunity for you. On April 1,2, or 3, 2023, you can bring your children/grandchildren to be photographed by Larry at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC.
